Beginning to Advanced Ceramics

Hand building & Wheel Throwing Workshops
Each Session is 4 Weeks

Learn new skills, improve your your hand building and throwing techniques and try new studio glazes. Open to adult students of all skill levels.

Workshop fee includes instruction, 25lbs of clay, and firing for beginners. Advanced students will have the equivalent of one kiln shelf of bisque and one kiln shelf of glaze firing per session.Additional firing space may be purchased. Optional Saturday studio time is available to workshop students, from 10am - 4pm.

Mondays 10:00am – 1:00pm
(studio will be open from 9:30 to 1:30)
Tuesdays 6:30pm – 9:30pm
(studio will be open from 6:00 to 10:00)

Session 1: Begins the week of January 5, 2009

NEW! Figurative Sculpture/Drawing
This class is a wonderful opportunity to sculpt or draw from a live model. It is preferably to have a basic background in sculpting or drawing but not necessary. This class is limited to 10 sculptors and 10 drawers.

NEW! Ash Glaze and Celadon Workshop

NEW! Guided Open Studio - First Saturday of every month from 11:00 to 4:00
Similar to a day pass, but with a little more guidance. Staff will be on hand to offer instruction on equipment, and tools will be available. A 25lb bag of clay is included in the price. This is a great option for people with beginning to intermediate experience to try out the studio, just walk-in and all the necessities provided.
Firing services are additional.
Fee: $35. per day

Beginning to Advanced Ceramics
Hand building & Wheel Throwing Workshop - Ongoing, each session is 4 weeks
 Begins, Thursday, November 20, 6:30pm - 9:30pm (studio will be open from 6:00pm to 10:00pm)

Randy Au, currently the ceramic teacher at OCHSA, will lead an eight week ceramic workshop at Muddy’s Studio. This class is designed for both the advanced artist, who would like guidance to continue with their body of work, or for the beginner who wants to learn the basics.

Workshop includes instruction, 25lbs of clay, and firing for beginners. Advanced students will have the equivalent of one kiln shelf of bisque and one kiln shelf of glaze firing per session. Majolica Workshop
Learn the beautiful glaze technique and significant history behind the art of Majolica on glaze painting. This workshop will be taught by Kevin A. Myers who will show slides and take you through a step by step process to create an 18" :x 18” tile mural. Muddy’s Studio will provide instruction, glaze, pigments, brushes, 9 tiles and firing. Soft drinks are provided, bring one dish to share at potluck lunch.

Workshop Fee: $100.
Surface Design Workshop
Do you find glazing difficult? Looking for new ideas and techniques? Sign-up for the surface design workshop and learn the methods and techniques of applying oxides, stains, slips, resists & glazes that will add interest and beauty to your work. Each artist is encouraged to bring 5-7 bisque fired pieces to be glazed in the workshop. Instruction, glaze and firing are included.
Workshop Fee: $125

Private/Semi-Private Lessons
Private Lessons
A 1 ½ hour lesson with Kevin A. Myers includes instruction, studio day use pass, 25lbs of clay and firing of ceramic pieces (from lesson). Kevin will discuss your interests and design a class especially for you. All levels welcome and available on Saturdays only.
Fee: $125.

Semi-Private Lesson
This is a unique gift for a special birthday, anniversary or even a first date. Share a semi-private, 1-hour lesson with a friends, relatives or co-workers. Class would include instruction, studio day use pass, 25lbs of clay to share and firing of ceramic pieces (from lesson). The class will be designed around your special interest. Available Saturdays only.
Fee: $60. a person
